PORRIDGE PROGRAM

The long awaited Porridge Program was launched in March, 2011!  A small “kitchen” facility was built and two local women were hired to prepare the porridge, serve it to 240 students, and wash the cups.  The porridge consists of soybean, sorghum, sosoma (a mixture of nutritious ingredients), and a little sugar.  It is served hot and is the consistency of a very thin cream of wheat.  What a blessing this Porridge Program is, as most of the students come to school having not eaten breakfast and they spend the entire day trying to learn on empty stomachs.  Scholarships for students ($175) include $25 for porridge for that student for the year.

Additional funds are needed to provide porridge for the non-scholarshipped students, as all students receive porridge.  ($25 provides porridge for 1 student for 1 school year.)

$25 – Porridge for one student… for the entire school year.

$50 – Porridge for two students for the entire school year

(Any increment of $25 is greatly appreciated)
