Students Needing Sponsored

$175 – Sponsors one student for one year (Includes tuition, uniform, and porridge)

The Good Shepherd Primary School is located in Kigali, Rwanda adjacent to several “village” areas where the people have little or no income. Sponsorships are provided for children who meet the established “Sponsorship Qualifications” criteria. Below you can view students that have met this criteria.

 

 

BAYIZERE Christine SPONSORED  

Primary 1    Girl      Birthday 2003

Christine is 9 years old and has never been in school.  She is the youngest of 6 children, 5 girls and 1 boy.  The two older children are married and the others live at home.  The family moved to Kigali from Kibuye in 2003 with the husband/dad.  He was with prostitutes, was a drunkard, and eventually left the family.  Mom does not have a job.  She is poor, but is living in a friend’s house, rent free.  The school watchman is a neighbor and told her to come ask for help for Christine.

Interests:  to clean the house, and to wash clothes

HABIMANA Turatsinze SPONSORED  

Primary 4            Boy         Birthdate 1993 or 1994

Turatsinze (18) and his sister (20) are the only survivors in his family.  He lost both parents and 2 older brothers in the genocide.  His sister lives in Gisenyi, in the northwest part of Rwanda.  Turatsinze lives with a cousin whose job is to repair shoes, and he helps him when he is not at school.  He was also working at the market, repairing shoes, in the past, when he wasn’t in school.  Turatsinze wants to complete his studies because he knows that is important for his future.

Interests:  Studying and Football (soccer)  He is currently the captain of the soccer team!

IRATSINZE Chanceline SPONSORED  

Primary 1         Girl    Birthdate – 2001

Chanceline lives with both parents, but her father is sick and her mother doesn’t have a job.  There are 5 children in the family, ages 10, 9, 8, 7, and 1.  Chanceline is the oldest.

KAMANDA Martin SPONSORED  

Primary 3            Boy            Birthdate – 1997

Martin lives with his mother, father and 5 brothers and sisters, ages: 24-15.  Martin is the youngest.  His father is the watchman at the school.  His mother does not have a job.  Martin has not been able to attend school on a regular basis because of the family’s low income, (he is 15 in the 3rd grade).

 

MANZI Moise SPONSORED  

Primary 3     Boy    Birthday 2-1-02

Moise lives with both parents and 7 siblings.  They also care for 5 other children who are orphans from a relative.  His sister, Queen Alice, also goes to the Good Shepherd Primary School.  His father used to have a business, but it has stopped.  His mother does not have a job.

Interests:  sprorts, football (soccer)


NDIKUMANA Irene SPONSORED  

Primary 2            Boy            Birthday – 4-27-02

Irene (yes, he is a boy!) lives with his mom and step-dad, and 2 siblings ages 6 and 3, in the village near the school.  His step-dad has another wife, so he is not always with them.  Irene had another sponsor, but that person recently passed away.

Lives with mother, father, grandmother, 5 siblings and a cousin.  Cousin’s parents are in a refugee camp in Congo.  Father lost his job last year.  Mother does not work.  Members of GSCC.  Brother to MUJYANAMA Willy

NKUNDA Innocent SPONSORED  

Primary 4            Boy            Birthdate 2000

Innocent lives with his mother and 3 siblings ages 15-4.  His father was killed in a motorcycle-taxi accident in June, 2011.  His mother sells charcoal in their village, which is minimal income.  The family was able to pay the tuition for the three oldest children until the father’s accident.  The oldest brother is now in secondary school.  Innocent’s brother Charles is in P.6.  They have had trouble in school since their father’s death.

Julien lives with both parents and a brother.  His brother attends the Good Shepherd Primary School.  His father works as a security guard and his mother does not have a job.

Primary 1      Girl      Birthday 4-24-03

Sarah lives with her mother and father.  There are 4 children in the family, ages 16-3 years old; the 16 year old is an orphan that has moved in with them.  Mom doesn’t work and dad is a painter.  No steady income.  The children were in a government school  but received a poor education.  They like the Good Shepherd Primary School and want a better education.

Lives at home with both parents.  There are 4 children in the family, ages 12-4.  Two sisters also attend Good Shepherd, one has a TC sponsor – Cecile, P.4.  Father owned a business that has failed and mother does not work.

Alain lives with his mom and 2 brothers in the village next to the school.  His brothers (ages 15 & 9) also go to The Good Shepherd Primary School.  His mother has been a single mom for 7 years.  She lost her job working in a shop and is looking for a new job.  Orly’s father is living, but does not help the family.
